My first visit to Barrhill

2008 February

It was a Sunday afternoon. I had finished work at 2pm, and was thiunking of going home, but then I thought "why the hell not" and directed the car left onto the southbound M77! Allan and I had a good habit of chatting on the phone wherever and whenever we could. I was on the car's handsfree anyway, so I decided to give him a call when I was heading down the road. Well we were chatting away as I drive down through and out of Girvan and then took the A714 towards Barrhill. Just when we were in the middle of a good wee chinwag, and I thought I'd convinced him I was heading in the other direction from him, the phone signal was lost and the phone went dead. Damn it! About 20 minutes later, I'm coming into Barrhill, thinking I was being clever and when I reached Allan's house, I'd just pulled up outside and there he was at the front door! He suspected I was nearby because the place I lost signal was a well known dead spot for mobiles... Needless to say, I gota nice big smile, a hug and a kiss from my lovely man. Oh, and a coffee! We spent a hour or two together, and I just wanted to show him that spending 10 minutes with him would have been worth the drive down, because he is a special man, someone I was beginning to think I'd been waiting my whole life to meet. How can you not love someone who was so kind, handsome, warm and tender, gentle and caring?
