I went down to Barrhill today to mark Allan's 51st birthday. This time though, I took some people along with me; my niece and my great niece.

Heather hadn't been down since 2011, but she wanted to come this time, and well with mum comes child.  We went down to the cemetry, I did my cleaning routine then we placed our cards and my red rose for Allan.  I only cried when I went back to the car to put my cleaning stuff in the boot - it would have been unfair to expose my great niece to me crying.  So I went back to the graveside, we said our goodbyes and headed back up the road, via Girvan where Lilly had her very  first run about on a sandy beach!

It was actually good to combine something sad with something fun.  Like it or not, mylife is going on.  However, someone else's life is just beginning and I have a part to play in that.  And you know something?  I think Allan was right there beside me on that beach, laughing as he watched me trying to amuse a small child...  And succeeding (I think)!
